My guess is...
Symantec knows that its been devolved to junk, as the support tech on chat simply indicated that I needed to be refunded with sincere apologies for my trouble, never broaching the idea of trying to evaluate/fix the installation.
Note too that there have been no comments from those you'd expect to get comments from here ... a further indication of admitted culpability, IMHO.
I've since spent some time scanning the web about it and it appears that at one time (2 years or so ago) it had a good rating, but the programmers wrenched on it until it's been devolved to mostly uselessness...
I needed a quick security fix for open hotspot utilization and thought this would be it ... lesson learned.
