I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit and Norton Internet Security. I've just installed Norton Utilities 16 and the first thing I did was a registry clean, including a deep scan. The scan found a bunch of problems in various places but stopped during the deep scan. I then ran it without the deep scan and fixed the problems, and repeated the deep scan: it stopped again. I tried switching Windows to Safe Mode but still had the failure in deep scan. I switched back to normal mode: same problem.
The point at which deep scan stops is 98% through (at which point it claims to have found over 35,000 issues!) At the time, it says it's scanning hkey_local_machine\system; this disappears after a few minutes and I'm left with just the "Scanning Deep Scan" message alone (see attached screen images below).
Can anyone suggest what I should do?
Thanks,
Giles.
