I just wanted to say that I installed NIS 2014 and have had NU 16 since last April and have just now been getting that message. I originally got that message when I installed NU16 on my netbook - Norton says they are no longer providing product for netbooks but I was able to download NU 16 and then they said that I could download NU15 so there would be no problems but I got the same program, NU 16.0.1.4. This laptop is WinXP home and the netbook is Win7 starter. Just an FYI.

Thank you for your assistance and follow-thru.
Re: NU version 16.0.1.4 - Shred Files
Unfortunately the most recent Norton Utilities update (version 16.0.1.7) did not address the drag and drop issue (still does not work) to shred files and/or folders. I thought they would seeing that it is an obvious defect in the program (the Shred files and/or folders module even plainly states drag and drop as a feature). Could you address this defect in the next update?

Laurence
Re: norton bootable recovery tool frozen on eudcedit-replacement.man
You should not be trying blindly things as that can make the system a whole lot worse. Due to what the system may or may not have, what should not be deleted at a certian point or not at all.
It could be that the user actions have caused problems, the Malware (if it is infected) is giving a fight, etc. Saying it found some stuff is not good enough.

Re: Getting "Core Product File(s) Have been modified" Error after new install of Norton U
That problem was solved but a new problem was created. My NU version 16.0.1.7 will no longer bleach.
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit on an HP machine.
Bleach Files fails now that Core Product Files problem fixed
Now that Symantec has fixed the message that "Core Product File(s)" have been modified, the file bleaching subroutine no longer works. I am running Windows 8.1 Pro, 64-bit, on an HP machine. Their is no indication that the subroutine runs and, on the left side of Norton Utilities, I have no date/time of last bleach.
Re: Getting "Core Product File(s) Have been modified" Error after new install of Norton U
I already replied to this via email so it is probably in the dead file. Anyway, THANK YOU so much to whoever fixed this. It works perfectly. All of my computers (4 of 5 - haven't checked the newest Win 8.1 notebook yet) they all updated in about 2 seconds each, even the 2004 WinXP Pro desktop and the new version shows in the Program Files. Phew! Sure glad this is over with and FAST (for me any way).

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Re: Getting "Core Product File(s) Have been modified" Error after new install of Norton U
The problem has been corrected. I think NU 16 did an auto update and fixed the problem. Thanks to all for the support.

Instead of trying to work this yourself, it would be wise for you to sign up at one of the free malware removal sites below. You should probably stop trying yourself, as it could make it harder for the malware removalist to diagnose what you have.

Backup file naming anomaly
The file naming convention appears to be <computername>.sv2i, <computername>drive<mmm>.v2i, <computername>drive<mmm>_i<nnn>.iv2i, where mmm is a sequence id of backup sets and nnn is a sequence id of incremental backups. Normally, the number mmm is incremented each time a new backup set is created. The anomaly that I observed was that after four incremental backups had been made (nnn=001, 002, 003,004), mmm changed from 053 to 046 and incremental backups continued (nnn=005, 006, 007). Coincident with this anomaly, both of my offsite backups failed, with error EC8F1F5B. The laptop on which this occurred may have gone into hibernation about this time. (Running Windows 7)
Need help in removing an unused backup or hard drive from Save and Restore
Norton Save and Restore gives me an Attention Needed message on the Home tab. It says attention needed “A backup up has been defined for a Local Disc…” And refers to a disc that is no longer in use. Can someone please tell me how to correct this? Thank you.
