Hi,

Questions:

How much RAM is installed?

Were you experiencing varying boot times before 360 - [suspect] due to the time of day [translated to network traffic volume]?

Thanks

"I use dns 2, can't use dns 3 because i use bittorrent network they block "File sharing sites"."

Then my only suggestion is for you to be very careful. One cannot be blocked without also blocking the type of site you frequent.

Norton Hotspot Privacy - safety. . .

I am running Windows Pro v.8.1, 64-bit. I have a subscription to Norton Hotspot Privacy, presently at version 1.0.0.16, and seeing that my year subscription is running out (only 26 days remaining), I have decided to post the following.

I very much like the simplicity of using Norton Hotspot Privacy (NHP), and for the most part it has worked quite well for me. However, my only major complaint and real dissatisfaction with NHP is that if it loses/drops the encrypted connection, disconnecting even momentarily (which it has done upon occasion), my connection to the Internet continues uninterruptedly albeit now I am without any protection, leaving me vulnerable and exposed.

Does anyone know if the above mentioned (mis)behaviour and safety concern will be corrected? Preferably sooner than nought. And due to the above, as it now stands, I am uncertain whether to renew my subscription.

Thanks again for an almost perfect offering (in my opinion) - that is, apart from above!

regards,

Laurence

Hi,

I would recommend that you store usernames and passwords in a secure file - like Norton Identity Safe or one of the other free password keepers. These will not be deleted by NU when you do a clean up. Cookie storage is the least recommended way to hold passwords.

Keep us posted

Hi churchill,

You can give this a try and see if it accomplishes what you want:

Open Norton Utilities 16 and click on Smart Update (thus making sure you have the latest Norton Utilities)

Once done, click on the Privacy tab, then click on "Clear Your Browsing History"

Under Browsers, click on (highlight) the browser you wish to make changes to

Under Item Name, select or unselect what you want to change

(If you wish do the above for each browser, and when you're finished)

Click on Save Choices

(* If you are using Internet Explorer, you may want to click on the Settings tab, then click on Privacy (in the left-hand column), and uncheck "Clean all Internet Explorer tracks as part of Privacy cleaning" and click on Save. *)

OR - If you are merely wanting to retain specific Cookies only for certain websites (see what "dickevans" post has to say about cookies and passwords). . .

Under Browsers, click on (highlight) the browser you wish to make changes to

Now click on "Select which Cookies you want to retain >>"

Place a check mark in the box next to the Cookie(s) you want to save

Once finished, click on Save

Good luck, and hope this is of some help.

regards,

Laurence

Hi ahmedmoussa87,

I checked each website you listed here and some of them are rated as Gaming, some are Unknown and a few are rated as Porn.  Can you please let me know how each website should be categorized, and I'll pass your suggestions to the team for reconsideration.

Thanks,

Katie

I have NU 16 installed. Every time I use 1 click optimization, I find that I have over 400 registry items fixed. This happens each time I use 1 click, even immediately after the prior use. What is wrong?

Can you try restarting your system? Also, be sure you have run Smart Update to ensure you are using the latest version.

Welcome Bob,

Do you have the system works installation software? If so then you need to do a reinstall so that it will find all of the parts to be able to uninstall. If not you might try the Norton Removal Tool

www.Norton.com/nrt

to see if it will clean up the mess. If that fails then you might try

http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Keep us posted

If you run the setup disc it will detect that the program is installed and you will get options to change, repair or remove the program.

You can try the repair, if that does not work run the remove.

Hi ProwlingTiger,

Welcome to Norton forums.

Have you activated your Norton after reinstalling?

If Not , Kindly activate  with the key using "Enter product key" option present under Support Menu.

Kindly let us know if this solves the issue.

Thanks,
