Hi,

Asking for trade secrets might lead to a lot of silence. How does NU work - it works well. I'm using it on my W7x64 system and have not seen any problems.

Good programs and bad have different characteristics. The programmers know how to tell one from the other.

You will know you have caused a problem when you get an error message.

So if someone is using Google Drive to host his collection of porn at drive.google.com/porn/ that does not mean I want to be restricted from accessing the drive.google.com domain. Also you did not read my post carefully before trying to give me an answer. As I said in my first post: It is clearly stated here what is being blocked: https://dns.norton.com/dnsweb/faq.do None of the 3 policies say anything about blocking File Sharing or File Hosting sites. I would recommend that Norton moves all of these questionable file sharing sites to the category 'C' under "Other" for maximum security but instead they included it in all categories making all 3 categories useless. Don't forget the way DNS works if you enable it through router it effects the whole network in the house. My idea was to block porn and scam to the Wi-Fi devises that kids use like iPads Smart TV's etc. and at the same time have a working PC in my office where I'm able to use internet.

THANK YOU NORTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for resolving this so quickly. Today I enabled Policy 'B' and it did not block any of my Non Porn sites at the same time blocking almost every porn site that I tried to go on. I have to say Norton DNS blocks more porn that OpenDNS, GreenTeamDNS & FoolDNS. Please keep it that way and thank you.  PS:  I would LOVE to see you add in to EVERY category the advertisement sites same as in AdblockPlus.Org making NortonDNS the Ultimate in DNS Security.

Thanks for your reply. I did not want to know the actual functionality of the software but more an explaination of how it knows what to remove, fix clean anytime you run the software. I appologize if my question sounds like I am asking if it's worth having this software. As I said I've been using it for a couple of decades.

Thanks for letting us know that things are working for you.

 

You still did not say what level of protection you had been using that was causing your issue. The highest level of protection could have been expected to block torrent sites.

In the first post I listed the IP addresses of all 3 DNS levels A, B & C, that's why I was upset that all 3 levels blocked File Sharing & File Hosting sites.

Hi Ronnie,

I took your question to be a bit more than you intended but I think my response is still correct. The program has been designed to recognize 'bad' software and eliminate it. Just as it has been designed to recognize good software and allow it. A false positive is usually a new version of a program that the security program is unsure of.

I have my product key for Norton utilities 16, but it will not take my password. I changed it, but still won't let me

connect. I miss it.

Again my apologizes, no disrespect towards the company was intended. Just trying to get a better understanding of how all of this works & to make sure that I'm not wasting resources. There have been times in the distant past where I've had various software from reputable companies corrupt my computer, even causing me to lose data & reformat the drive. I appreciate your reply & time. I'll conside this a clossed subject.

As you only have 360 with 3 installs you do not have a version that can give you support for your iPad. You need to have the 360 Multi Device version that will cover 5 devices, from PCs to mobile devices.

 

Having said that, you will not actually install 360 on a mobile device, but Norton Mobile Security. Check the Compare tab of the 360 MD page here, and look for IOS in the descriptions to see if it provides any features you need.  http://us.norton.com/norton-360-multi-device/

 why did you change Norton Business Suite to Norton Internet Security online? And Why is it that NIS online can be  only be installed in 3 PC. and NBS can be installed in more that 3.

If I remember correctly the Norton Business Suite was / is a commercial product which Norton Internet Security is a consumer product. If you need more than three subscriptions of NIS they are available. I'm not sure that you can get a bulk subscription.

Maybe can verify, but I believe the Norton Business Suite was an ISP offered by Comcast for business users. He may also be able to shed some light on why you were switched to NIS online.

symantec system recovery 2013

I have symantec system recovery 2013 installed on a windows 8, and I get the following error when I backup my PC to an external hard drive: " vss writter asr writter failed . check the aplicattion event log for writter specific error"
