New DNS IP

Hi, I recently set up my router to use the Norton DNS (Connect Safe)

Preferred DNS:199.85.126.10

Alternate DNS:199.85.127.10

When I try to test it on the norton site (http://setup.nortondns.com/) it says "Your computer is not currently using Norton DNS."

I have since changed the DNS to block pornography to see if that works

Preferred DNS:199.85.126.20

Alternate DNS:199.85.127.20

It did block pornographic web sites, but when I go to http://setup.nortondns.com/ It again says "Your computer is not currently using Norton DNS"

I contacted norton about this on live chat, and they used remote desktop to try to resolve it. It was not resolved, and was escalated to level 2. A Norton representive rang me today, and I was not happy with what he had to say. He asked my things like "why do you want to use Norton DNS".

Can some one please test the DNS servers and has anyone else experienced similar issues. I am in Australia (Sydney).

Are you having trouble accessing web pages? Why did you need to check your DNS settings?

Your tracerts show the two addresses were being addresses by different routes (servers), which is how things are designed. There may be a problem with one of the servers between your computer and the first DNS server, therefore the secondary DNS server is called on.

Tracerts and pings do not necessarily translate to problems with the DNS.

Are you able to access web sites? If so, the DNS system is working. If not, how did you get here?

Unfortunately, the world we live in, and the people in it, have caused software companies to have to add 'activation' features to protect themselves from 'sharing'.

NU16 Level 2 support: How long is the typical wait time for L2 support through chat?

Twice I have had the same problem with NU16 referred up the chain to level 2 support. Twice I have been waiting for a response for more than an hour with no evidence that the molve is even in progress. The last notation on the  remote control window is: transfering session to another technician - remote control session with xxxx has stopped.

How much longer should I wait (at this point in this session I have been waiting for nearly two hours)?

Hi Jim,

I can't answer your question, but perhaps someone here can help.  If you can provide as much information as possible and include your version of Windows and anything else that could be relevant it will help us to help you.

Thanks!

I selected the registry scan for performance.  The results were that there was 1 issue found and the issue was ignored.  Therefore it was not repaired.  The results showed "Number of issues repaired:  0".  Why wasn't this repaired?  Please see attachment.
