You still did not answer whether you are having trouble accessing web pages? Ping results do not mean a server is necessarily unreachable. Your second ping did complete, which is why there are usually more than one DNS IP set up in case there is trouble with the servers between your computer and the DNS server.

 

In your first trace, it is a server between your computer and the DNS server that is having some difficulty. Not a problem with the DNS server.

Was the Anti Theft included as a package deal with 360? ie, do you use the same product key to activate both products. If so that is why the license issue.

 

You have installed on the desktop and laptop. That is 2 devices. Then you installed on your smartphone. That is the 3rd device. The iPad is a 4th device, and it seems you do not have enough licenses for that.

 

If this is not the case, then you might be best to contact Support via online chat and ask them for help with your issue.  www.norton.com/chat

Thanks, for your response. Yes, it was part of a package with 360, but as  each item was listed separately (and was priced separately), I assumed they were separate products, so didn't have to install Anti Theft on the same three devices as 360.  It seems I was mistaken. I guess this means that the only other device I can download Anti Theft to is my Desktop and there doesn't seem much point in doing that. I think you've answered my question though.

You can still contact Support as I suggested, to see if they can offer the best way to get an additional license for the iPad.

 

FWIW  I think you can get the same functionality for the iPad by using the iCloud software for free. That is what I use for my iPad.

Thank you for the advice.  I have run NPE many times over the years on two computers with not one single problem.  I will continue to use it periodically.

Just remember that it is not designed as a regular scanning tool. It is to be used when you fear there may be an infection that a regular scan with NIS or 360 finds nothing.

Hello, I am new here on this Platform and from Germany. It's not clear if you are Talking about "making backups" or repair with the Recovery Disc the System. Then that's my Problem when booting with SRD the Backup Drive can be found but Not the Target Drive (OS windows 7.1) at an older System Where I've deleted the oem and the Recovery Partition from Dell NG15 Workshop well. So please tell me if the Problem is my be the Same or there is something different. Partition Magic 8 is too old and it works no more. Thanks for any help Martin

I would like to know if you can manually update the Norton power Eraser.  I have a system that I would like to run it on but do not want it connected to the internet at this time.

Hi gary_dexter,

 

Thanks for your patenice.  The team confirmed that we had a temporary outage in the region.  The new IP set should be ok by now. 

 

The 'old' IP set you have reverted to has the same settings as the new one and will continue to be supported.  You can stay with 'old' or 'new' IPs.

If you have another computer, you can download NPE on that, then put it on a flash drive and run it from that on the problem system.

 

One caution, Be careful if/when NPE suggests removing any files or settings. If you do not understand what they are, you may leave your system unbootable. You can post the recommended deletions in the appropriate board for your Norton product, Norton Internet Security or Norton 360 to get advise on whether it is safe to remove those entries.

 

If you believe you have an infection, a better solution might be to go to one of the free Malware Removal sites below. They have expert malware removalists that will guide you through diagnosing and fixing what is wrong with your system.

I have ran NBRT on my Vista PC however it did not find any threats  However my PC is still held to ransom.  I am unable to run the second stage Norton Power Eraser as it is greyed out stating no internet access.  Is it possible to separately download and create a bootable CD version of NPE?

A big reason for lots of posts on this forum and lots of search results from Goggle about Norton DNS problems is because the "SETUP" page has not been updated for the new IP addresses...
