Hi surendran_p,

 

As I said before: I could not find the driver files online for that network card. I tried to find all the files through the device manager / details....., but I'm not sure if I got all of them.

So now I downloaded drivermaxx and backed-up the network card driver. The programm creates a zip folder.

Is it ok to copy this folder into the UserDrv folder on the USB stick, or do the files have to be "installed" with the USB installation?

I tried it with just copying, them and NPE is still grey, nothing happens with refresh network connections.

What it the correct procedure to add the driver files?

Are the backup files from drivermaxx ok to use?

What else can I do?

Hi umarc,

 

I am not sure about drivemaxx. but you can also try the following in the nbrt command prompt to set ip address

 

>netsh int ip set address local static 10.123.0.222 255.255.255.0 10.123.0.1
(IP address of 10.123.0.222 with a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0 and a Default Gateway of 10.223.0.1)
>netsh int ip set dns local static 10.222.122.121 primary

(this should be your DNS-10.222.122.121)

 

I have given sample ip address to make you know.Please give your own IP address and the other details.

 

After entering this try refresh the network from NBRT UI.

Now the old IP's and the new IP's simply provide recursive service and are NOT preventing anything from being accessed when in use as forwading servers for dns.  Are you guys treating tcp/udp traffic differently maybe?

So it seems like the new IP's from Norton are honoring dns forwarding requests from microsoft dns with recursive lookup results instead of interative lookup results.  This behaviour change is really damaging for us that were quite happy with the way things used to be.  Does Norton have a recommendation for those of us who need our own dns servers but want to use Norton DNS as a forwarding resource for our dns servers?

Ghost 15. Wrong date on File backup Last run.

I had to do a Drive backup a week or so ago.  It wasn't a Norton problem.  Since then a file backup has been done every day which shows in the Status window.  However the Last run date in the Status window for the File backup is wrong and shows it was done 8 days ago.  The date for the Drive backup shows it as being done yesterday which is cirrect.

I installed Norton Utilities (16.0.2.14, engine 5.0.0.5) on my desktop.  However, the accompanying Quick Start Quide does not open.

 

Can I download it from somewhere else?

Norton Utilities 15 registry clean up

every time i run the registry clean up on NU 15 the scanning stops once it reaches scanning custom controls.  It stops on the file HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CID.Local\014rc32c-ae5b-4529-be03-0149358bc197\CustomProperties\Service

 

How do i fix this so the scan can complete.

This could indicate a problem with your hard drive.

 

I use NU 16, but you should be able to find the same function in your copy. Look for the Repair option under Disk Doctor. Have it do a surface scan of your system drive. This will check for bad sectors that could be affecting the registry scan.

I just noticed the Quick Start Guide will not open for me either.

 

You can get what is probably the same thing by clicking on Help from the main NU 16 Dashboard, then click on Help Topics. This will open a Support page on Norton's site that has a To get started with Norton Utilities section.

I caught that, and was going to use that as my approach.

 

I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any instructions as a lot of this is alien to me to start out with.

 

Norton does put a file in the Utilities directory that the "Quick Start Guide" link leads to.  I was hoping it would have more information and could be replaced, especially since there's no manual.

BUG Norton Utilities 16 Disables DVD Drive

NU16 is set to run a Registry cleanup every Monday Morning.

 

After this task has been performed my DVD Rom drive is no longer available.

In device manager it states that the registry entries for the Driver are corrupted, (error 19).

 

This happens every time.

 

The only way this can be fixed is to manually go into Registry editor and delete the upper and lower filters for the device.

 

Please fix this BUG.

 

The applications that slot into the upper and lower filters are Slysoft's AnyDVD and Virtual Clone Drive (as this machine is running as a Video Jukebox).

 

I spoke to slysoft, who stated that if Norton didn't mess up the registry, then everything would work fine. The suggested I uninstall NU ;-)

 

So please fix this.

so i ran the surface scan and i even went and used the disk repair but it still stops at the same point and dosent move

uninstalled NU completely, restarted PC, Installed NU again, did try to run 1 click opt. But no changes at all, then I did smart update, after update, restarted PC and again same. No changes at all, no matter what action I choose.
