Well, there's not a toolbar for Waterfox yet, so there's no easy way to get at a password in it unless I make it save them. Ident. Safe working fine in 32-bit FF 25. I guess I'd take suggestions. Ideally, I'd like to get at them from either program, but I cannot get Saved Passwords to ungray so I can use the pw manager in WF. If I'm not clear I'll try again. Thanks.

Re: Save passwords is grayed out
That wasn't very clear. I prefer the 64-bit program, and there's not a toolbar for I Safe yet for Waterfox. So I'd like to turn on it's PW Manager, but that option remains grayed out not matter what I do.
All is well as long as I use FF 25. Toolbar, etc. When I go into Waterfox, do I have to kill IS first, or am I just stuck? I know I can run I Safe in the background and manually look up PW's, but that is cumbersome, and it won't autofill.
Re: Norton Utilities Trail Version
That is what I do and what happens.
I have Vista 64 Home SP2 and the latest version of NIS.
Re: Norton Utilities Trail Version
You can download NU16 from www.norton.com/nu16 which will be a 30 day trial until it is activated.

Hi,
I don't think that x64 support is a reality yet.
You might post a message in the product suggestion forum to see if others will chimee in and get the teams attention.

Norton Identity Safe Android app blocks internet related apps
After installing and logging into NIS on my Android device, I have found that my internet related apps no longer load when I click on a hyperlink that normally opens the app.
I instead get asked if I want to use a browser or NIS. An example os LinkedIn.
Is it possible to prevent NIS from blocking internet related apps, especially as most apps already have their own accounts on the device?
I obviously do not want remove the login from NIS itself, as this would then stop NIS from signing into the websites from my PC.

I have NU 16 installed but the shortcut has suddenly stopped loading the utility.
I know I have Norton Utility 16 installed on my laptop, but when I try to load it by clicking on the shortcut nothing happens. I am also unable to access it when I go into programmes and click on the NU16 folder. Please can you help. I have just uninstalled and re-installed Norton 360 Premier. I also have Internet explorer 11 installed and the operating system is Windows 7.
Re: I have NU 16 installed but the shortcut has suddenly stopped loading the utility.
Hi,
First thing I would do is uninstall NU choosing to save settings (I can't remember exactly what the wording is), reboot, then install a fresh new copy from www.norton.com/nu16

Re: Norton Utilities 16 stops Windows Search and Indexing in Windows 8.1
Hi,
Please run the Smart update to check whether the product NU is up to date. The Windows Indexing issue is fixed for the future registry clean scans. If you have already ran the registry clean and not able to restore the Windows Search and Indexing , then please use the following KB article - https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v95031677_EndUserProfile_en_us

Re: NU version 16.0.1.4 - Shred Files
Hi Rajkumar,
Thank you for responding.
The Windows 8.1 Professional OS I am using is 64-bit. And in that article (via the link you provided) I know it says "All the major features of Norton Utilities 16 are available when you install it on a 64-bit version of Windows, except File Shredder."Yet in that same article it also goes on to say that "Norton Utilities 16 has a limited ability to accept files for shredding through drag and drop on 64-bit version of Windows." What is the limited ability on 64-bit Windows it speaks of?
Because we know that the available workaround of manually adding files and/or folders is not drag and drop; and although it is better than nothing, it is still much less than desirable. The ease of drag and drop is so much more direct and quicker to execute.
Maybe this drag and drop issue, although as you say "by design", will yet be corrected in an upcomning release of Norton Utilities. I hope.
Thanks again.
regards,
Laurence

Thank you Crusty, that seems to have solved the problem. However, I don't know why it happened in the forst place.
Re: Partition magic for windows 7
Disk management has limited partition resizing, you can only shrink a partition until it hits a system file and you cannot shrink the front of a partition or "slide" anything.
There are several free partitioning tools, partition wizard works and looks like partition magic did.
gparted is another free tool I hear a lot about.
Make sure you backup everything to be safe and for best results do all partition work outside of windows from the bootable CD.

Hi Hugo,
I just thought I'd let you know that the Norton ConnectSafe site is loading much faster for me now. Hopefully you experience the same.

Re: I'm trying to decide whether or not to optimize a drive and boot time: w/ restore points?
Hi, earlier today (12/12/13), I was very fortunate to have made contact with Norton Support about this optimization task with Norton Utilities 15.0. It was concluded that there was a conflict (between Windows and Norton Utilities) with restore points being created. I accepted the advice of the technician to "Force Optimization" and follow through with the optimization. As a result, my disk and boot-time are both optimized and running normally now. Thank you very much to Norton Support. This experience has been enlightening to me for two reasons that I would like to highlight. First, if your disk hasn't been optimized at all and needs optimization after analyzing then choosing "Force Optimization" is a good choice. Secondly, the system restore points will be created automatically by Norton Utilities following the disk optimization. This has been a positive learning experience for me and I am very grateful for the assistance I received from the Norton Chat Support (technician: L.V.). Now that I am moving forward past this problem, I hope this message can be useful help to others with similar issues. So far so good for me with this type of problem and I will continue to hope for the best.

Re: Partition magic for windows 7
Thanks, Dave,
I quickly found that the W7 disk management system wasn't all that much help as I couldn't shrink the Windows partition enough to make it worthwhile doing anything, even on a completely new installation.
One reason I'd wanted to make extra partitions was to reinstall W XP for old software use, but read somewhere in the W7 notes on disk management that "the oldest OS should be installed first to avoid conflicts". Since I couldn't do this, I abandoned the idea altogether, availability of freeware or not.
Thanks anyway,
Ian
MIXIDJ malware
I have been attacked by malware known as MIXIDJ It is known for replacing the default search engine and suspected of stealing passwords and copying keyboard input.
My search engine was replaced by it, but I have no way of knowing whether it has snooped through my HD or monitored my passwords. But it is scary stuff.
I bought my computer 18 months ago, with Norton Internet Security pre-installed. I have never turned Norton off, and assumed it was doing its job monitoring downloads and attachments as advertised.
My question is this: Why doesn't NIS catch MIXED either as an attachment or download? If not then, why not when I ran a Full System Scan? Furthermore, when I search Google it finds 230,000 hits, but NIS's site search has no hits!
Another question: What am I missing here? I extended my license because I thought Norton was protecting my back. But now I find they are letting stuff slip through. Does NIS do only viruses, but not malware? What else isn't covered?
Let me know what to expect so I can plan accordingly.
Re: MIXIDJ malware
Hi dash1730,
First, Norton is the best protection you can have. Second, Norton cannot protect you from 100% of the threats 100% of the time. They are being released by the thousands daily. I have found that using an on-demand, free scanner like
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
and / or
run weekly gives me better protection.
Norton concentrates on infections that do harm to your hardware and / or software. Other security products focus on other types of infections when you are using their free versions.
If you suspect that any of your identity information has been compromised - change it as soon as possible. I'd start with financial sites and work my way down to the less important ones.
