I understand what you are asking about regarding the test page that used to be available. That page only showed that you were using a Norton DNS setting, without actually testing anything.

The main test is if you can access anything on the internet. If you can, it is working. If you cannot, there is a problem.

As to testing whether the 'restrictied' sites are being restricted, you will have to try and see. There was never a test page for that.

Good point about the different information being given. The latest dated sticky is this one. http://community.norton.com/t5/Other-Norton-Products/New-IPs-Available-for-Norton-ConnectSafe-Users/m-p/1066575#U1066575

I will ask the admins to remove the older one to avoid confusion.

As to Google searches, you have to remember that old information is always going to still be found by your Google searches. It is best to go to the developer's source web pages to get any software or service updates.

I receive the error in a window  "Norton Ghost VProConsole has stopped working" every time I exit a session.

Everything seems to work okay.  I haven't attemped a restore w/SRD.

Was able to perform an independent disk (C:) backup to am external disk.

I am using Nortin Ghost version 15.0.1.36526

I also have Norton Security Suite version 21.2.0.38 obtained from Comcast.

I disabled it when I uninstalled and re-installed this Ghost software. No difference in its behaviour.

My system is a Gateway FX6800-01e w/12GB RAM runnig Windows 7 Home Premium w/SP1

C: drive is a Seagate ST31000528AS (1TB)

Here are the details attached to the error window;

Problem signature:

I also attached a file from "C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Norton Ghost\Logs"  that was most recently updated from the last time I used the VProConsole.

Can anyone tell me why it is doing this and how I can get it to stop alerting me after every exit?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

The page was useful when connecting from a tablet / smartphone in order to be sure that the router was ok and dns wasn't changed by an intruder attack.

Thanks Peter!

Re: the google search result...  Yeah, I get taht, but, the site it found is a Norton support page AND that same page comes up when using Norton's support search function.  I would think they'd want to clean up thier support pages.

Anyway, thanks again!

Malicious website blocked! for download.windowsupdate.com? CNN.com?

Norton ConnectSafe is blocking many safe sites, including Windows Update! Was fine 2 days ago.

If I click on "detailed report" it says the domain is safe.

When I revert my DNS to something else, all works fine. Tested on multiple computers.

This is a big issue. Blocking windows update is a huge hazard.

Please advise.

I'm using these DNS servers.

Smart Defrag Turns Off - NU 16

Smart Defrag turns-off frequently in NU 16. I have to then go through the tedious process of the deep defrag all the drives. Has anyone experienced this?

What version of NU16 are you using? Click on Help - About. My version is 16.0.2.14 and I am not seeing what you do.

What drives are getting the Smart Defrag turned off? External possibly?

update.microsoft.com works

but

login.microsoftonline.com doesn't work. , said SSL error: server identifying itself as "search.dnsadvantage.com"

Version 16.0.2.14.  This is occuring on all the drives. The boxes are checked "ON" in the Speed Disk page. Yet, periodically the smart defrag turns to "OFF"

I was able to access the above link properly. Is it possible you have some browser redirect issues?

I would suggest a scan using the FREE version of Malwarebytes. You can find it here http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

I do not have any ideas what is causing this. Maybe some more information about your system will helps others help you.

What is your OS and Service Pack? 32 bit or 64 bit?

What security software are you using? Are you using more than one at a time? This could cause unknown conflicts.

Are you using any other disk or system utilities?

i use DNS fwd on server, sometime login.microsoftonline.com works and sometime not

i did scan MBW, found nothing. NortonDNS problem happens on multiple PCs. If i use NortonDNS directly on TCP/IP then works, but not DNS Fwd.

they used to work before, just about a week ago.
