Dear All,

Would like to have an advice, I just purchased and downloaded Norton Utilities 16 (nu16.0.2.14-SMUI.exe) but once I started to install the software; it was rejected by windows 8.1 and there was a meassage saying that NU16 is not a version for my OS.

I'm currently using Windows 8.1 Single Language. My machine is equipped with Intel core i5 3337U at 1.8 GHz. it is with 8 GB of RAM and 64 bit OS.

What should I do?

Thanks...

I am using freeware of all the security programs except Norton and cleaning the registry which could be affecting NU 16.

The problem has not occurred since posting this problem. Maybe the "bugs" are laying low.

Thanks for your input.

According to Norton Utilities System Requirements it is compatible with Windows 8 so hang on for some advice from those who know about the product.

I know this is not a help.  Just information.  I am running windows 8.1 pro with media center 64bit  with all the updates and Norton Utilities 16.0.2.14 engine 5.0.0.5 with no problems.  So probably should be working for you.

Thanks for the advice, guys.

I think I will stick around and wait for further information from someone who might know in detail about this...

Additional information, I have one old Norton Utilities 15 installation file and run it on the same machine, until now it works fine (eventough it becomes a trial version with 30 days validity).

Have a nice day.

Backup - 1 file did not backup - Which file

File not backed up - look at log.  It has absolutely no information. It is useless. This is a cash cow, very old program. You would hope the log would say something especially since the error message directs you too it. I will not renew.

Hi,

Which product are we discussing? Also, your operating system so we have a better idea of the problem and the possibilities of fixing it.

Thanks

How did you install NU 16? Was it installed on Win 8 and then you updated Windows to 8.1?

What product are you trying to install, and on what devices?

norton 360 comes with antitheft. Installed 360 on for laptops.  Installed antitheft on 2.  When I install it on the 3rd one of the other comes up and says "do you want to activate.  So I activate it and the other laptop comes up and wants to know If I want to activate it.

Are you saying you have 4 laptops you are using?

If you purchased Norton Anti Theft separately, how many devices does your subscription cover? 3 or 5?

A friend of mine recently had a live chat with a customer rep. He found out that two-factor is apparently working as intended - it's account only. It does not apply to Norton Management and Identity Safe and presumably everything else.

It's basically 2FA at the bare mimimum. It's not good enough.

And can you verify the products you are using?

It sounds like you have Norton 360, and also Norton Anti Theft. Or are you referring to Norton 360 Multi Device version? That does not come with Norton Anti Theft, but you can use Norton Mobile Security for your tablets and phones.

Norton 360 Premier and Norton Antitheft comes with a Norton one Membership.up to 5 devices.  Is there any help in site or do I have to prove anything else.
