Greetings,
I received an email from Norton saying that "Intel has chosen to discontinue its Intel Anti-Theft functionality", and that "Intel Anti-Theft functionality" will stop in May 2015. What does the Intel Anti-Theft functionality do? Does this also affect LoJack?
Thanks,
Shane.
I'm still having the problem. The same message appears, however, now when I press continue the scan runs without any problems. The problems returns when I turn my computer on and run a scan though
What problem were you trying to solve by running NPE?
Did you run a full system scan with 360 before trying NPE?
It sounds like this is a hardware decision the Intel is making regarding their chipsets. If the hardware is not there, it makes it impossible for programs to provide the functionality.
If the functionality from Intel is being discontinued for existing hardware, there is probably nothing that can be done.
You would have to ask LoJack what it means for their program.
Hi ,I,been doing all my N360 backups on a Seagate External Hard Drive . It is now full , I have terminal Ovarian Cancer and need fairly simple ideas or a program to either delete unneeded files /folders or do I try to compress them . I'm not really well enough to figure this out ? Also does my Norton 360 have a program that sorts out duplicate programs I may have downloaded please ? I will be renewing shortly but would like help to sort this out please
After reading the following memo from Tony Weiss:
End of Support for Norton Utilities 1403-26-201302:08 PM- edited 06-21-201307:34 PM
Tony clearly states the following:
Q. Will I still be able to install Norton Utilities 14 on other machines?
- Yes, as long as you have an NU14 activation code and the NU14 installation file
Well for me, this statement did not turn out to be accurate. I tried to install Utilities 14.5 to my new Win7 laptop but received messages that the Product Key was invalid. I then began a journey through you support services. First I spent about an hour on the chat line where they opened a case and they told me they could not help. They attempted to forward me to another department but could not, so they gave me the support phone number. I then spent 1 hour on hold and finally got someone in your India call center who said I had to pay to upgrade to Utilities 16 which does not match with your memo that my version 14.5 should still work as along as I have the install disk and the valid Product Key. He attempted to find his manager but could not locate anyone and could not provide a solution and told me to skip phone support and use this forum. I am about 3-4 hours into trying to get this fixed without buying an upgrade since I already own the software but so far nobody can help. All I need is my Product Key enabled so I can use the 3 seats I already own on my machines which is clearly a valid request based upon what you state in your posting. Please help out. Case number XXXXXXXX.

Hi,
I am sorry to hear of the trouble you're having. I am surprised that Customer Support directed you here to the norton Community to get this solved. This is basically a user to user support forum and we don't have access to your Norton account details. Symantec employees have their name in red.
I will bring this to the attention of a Symantec employee to see if they can look in to it for you.
In the mean time, can you check that you are entering the Product Key correctly. From memory, the NU14 Product Key is Case sensitive, so you need to use capital letters.
Hi DJMChicago,
Can you please try download latest NPE BETA version and see if the error occurs?

I've reinstalled Norton using Norton removal tool. The problem continues to happen
It seems there is a new beta of NPE. Maybe that will solve your problems.
Have you restarted your router and modem lately?
Your error message from the original post mentions the hosts file. I know of it, but know nothing about how it works other than it can affect your access to internet sites. Have you modified the hosts file, or used some utility to do it? If so, try to revert to a basic hosts file and test internet access.
But what about my question about your hosts file? If NPE is having trouble checking for a newer version, it could be an entry in your hosts file that is interfering with internet access to the servers.
