Everything is back to normal at the minute. Hopefully, I have no more problems
If it is back to normal on both computers, let's hope it was just temporary internet server issues.

It might be time to check your hard drive.
Push the Windows button on your keyboard and type Command Prompt in the search box, right click Command Prompt, Run As Administrator. Now type chkdsk /r . Note the space between the k and the /.
Next time your system starts Check Disk will run and check your disk for bad sectors. This could take quite a while (hours) so best to do it when you know you won't be using your computer.
When that has completed try running NU16 again.
Try the Contact Us link on the site for your product. You should be able to ask your question there.
Hi,
I tried to reinstall Utilities 14.5 to my Win7 updated mother board and hard drive but received messages that the Product Key was invalid. I spent a lot of time in the chat room only to be told they could not help me. But they did provide me a phone number to your India call center who said I had to pay to upgrade to Utilities 16. I told him I did not need an upgrade just activation. He said he could activate me because that server was taken off line. But for a small upgrade fee and access to my computer he would install Utilities 16 on my system. I believe that like “You can keep your doctor”.
You can buy NU16 direct from Symantec for $29 - http://us.norton.com/norton-utilities/
I live in Australia and have seen it cheaper in department stores, so you could look around yourself. NU16 is a superior program to NU14 anyway.
Whenever a pornographic site is visited, using either .20 or .30, it is being categorized as malicious but not pornographic. Since it is being categorized as malicious, the option to allow anyway is available and the site is accessible afterwards.
Also worth noting, on .30, whenever say an alcohol manufacturer is visited, it as well is marked as malicious and able to be viewed.
Hi, mrlips. Perhaps you are using the wrong DNS numbers. Check this Norton page, which lists the options.
If you wish to block porn, B or C would be the options to choose.
Yes, I have tried with both B DNS servers and C DNS servers and this is the message that comes up.
Hi, mrlips. Whichever category you choose to block content, then Norton will advise you if a *Malicious* site is detected.
The different categories enable you to choose the type of content you wish to be blocked.
That notification is generic in that there could be several reasons for why the sites has been blocked, whether it be content, malicious links or computer threats.
You can also download WOT aka Web of Truth, as a secondary site scanner.
If either Norton and/or Wot flag the site as suspicious, back away.
'error 999' - I am unable to perform a simple 'Search' on Yahoo. Crazy. Keep getting 'error 999'.
I have tried turning off my computer and left it off overnight.
I have performed a Registry Cleanup.
I have downloaded Norton Power Eraser - the cleanup was unable to work.
Nothing makes a difference.
I am not a person who does dodgy stuff - I just want to seach the Net for basic information related to work (I'm a teacher!)
Very frustrating!
Hi, kayaker99, and welcome. This is unlikely related to Norton, but as the help page does mention malware as a possible cause, I suggest you have a look at the link to Yahoo help.

What Norton product do you have, and which browsers are you using ?
Hi, I have used Norton Utilities V14 for years and I am happy with the version I have and have no need to but V16.
I recently updated my PC after many years and decided to install all my old software.
When it come to installing Utilities 14 it wouldnt work so i tried the online support.......
Support analyst 1 - spent 30 minutes installing and uninstalling v16 to find my v14 activation code would not work. he alos, for reasons unknown decided to start opening the office documents on my desktop whilst he had control. (Nice !!), after than he basically hung up on me and vanished.
Analyst 2 - said they would transfer me to someone else after they couldnt help and then vanished with no transfer
Analyst 3 - (ive been at this an hour now ! - finally told me they no longer supported the old versions and hev turned off the servers that allow activation of the older products.
I am not impressed to say the least that i spent over an hour dealing with less than professional staff only to find to boost sales they turn off the old versions forcing you to buy the product again and again and again. If Microsoft can support activation codes gouing back to 2002 how come Norton can not support codes for 2011 !!
Please dont say this is solved by just saying sorry we dont support v14, its not the point, i bought something you have now stopped me using and are forcing me to buy it again (and in 3 years time i will have to buy it again as v16 is turned off !!)
Did you click on the 'detailed report' link to see what is being reported? Porn sites often have malicious code on them which would explain the essage given.
